That the Legislature of the State of Florida is convened in Special Session at the Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, the 5th day of January, 2009, for a period of 12 days, ending at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, the 16th day of January, 2009.

Florida House of Representatives Speaker-designate Rep. Ray Sansom, R-Destin, today announced he will appoint Bob Ward as Clerk of the House and Earnest W. Sumner as Sergeant at Arms for the House. The appointments are for a two year term.

House Speaker Marco Rubio today announced the appointment of 13-members to a newly created House Select Committee on Autism and Developmental Disorders. Rubio named State Rep. Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, to chair the committee. Rubio said the Committee should submit its initial recommendations within one week of its April 8th first meeting.

In accordance with Rule 7.6, I hereby create a Select Committee on Condominium & Homeowners Association Governance. The Select Committee is authorized to exercise all powers available under the Rules of the House. The Committee is authorized to take any actions and make any recommendations consistent with its powers prior to the start of the 2008 Regular Session.

It is my intention to hold an additional round of council meetings during the week of February 11. This will be in addition to the council and committee meetings already scheduled in February.
